I don't know how long

but I am going to have to disappear for a little while. I’ve developed a severe case of tonsillitis and if the swelling doesn’t go down at all with antibiotics I am going to have to go to the emergency room and have my tonsils remove asap otherwise they will keep swelling until I can’t breath anymore.

So yeah, if that ends up happening, i’m not really sure of the process of a tonsilectomy, so i’m not sure how long I will be in the hospital or how long my recovery will be if it comes to that (which it’s looking like it will).

Just figured I’d give you guys a head up. :kommie:

Look on the bright side dude, you can chomp down a buttload of icecream with a clean conscience! :thumb:

I dunno how long it’ll take either… I’m guessing a week or two. Just never believe the doctors… they told me I’d be fine withing 2 months tops last time I was under the knife… it took bloody 5 months… :sigh:

anyway, hope you get better!

drink some tea

Well from what everyone tells me, it’s Jello now for tonsil removal and not ice cream. But either way, I like them both.

5 months is a lot longer than 2 months. But I guess doctors can only go by an average since everyones body heals differently and at different rates. If I end up going to the hospital, this will be my first time (other than birth) that I’ve ever been in a hospital as a patient.

And yes, I’ve been drinking a ton of tea.

well the FIRST doc. told me it’d just take a few days… then one said a few weeks, then 2 months…

funny thing is, we all (here in denmark) pay our hospital bills through taxes, so it’s free to go the hospital, even so, no-one seems to care much for us… My wound wouldn’t heal for several weeks, and no-one cared, until ONE nurse took action  turned out I had a superficial infection (almost invisible), I ended up on penicillin, and 2 weeks later, voila

hmm… I feel like having tea now…

Wow, that’s weird that the hospital is free there. Pretty cool though. Here, if you don’t have medical insurance, the hospital charges you pretty much your lifetimes worth of pay… and that’s basically just to show up in the emergency room.

Unfortunately for me, I have no medical insurance (hey, I’m poor and insurance is expensive), so if I have to go to the hospital, I’m pretty much screwed. I’m either going to have to get set up on a payment plan, or I’m going to have to take out a loan or something…lol.

well we pay it over taxes as I said, so even if we never go to the hospital, we still pay 40-60% tax every month. But still, IF we get injured, we’re covered.

yeah, that definitely does suck that it’s taken out of taxes, because i’m sure it’s A LOT. And if you never go to the hospital, that money is technically just going to waste.

We live with paying taxes, and get used to it…40% of our monthly pay is actually low tax payment.

Hope you feel better lost, and if you do happen to go to the hospital to get your tonsils removed, you should be fine. A lot of people get their tonsils removed, so it’s nothing to be too worried about. You should place your removed tonsils and pickle them in some clear, glass jar as a keepsake :stuck_out_tongue:

Sorry LIB, you’ll be fine, like K-Dog said, a lot of people do get them removed.

Well hold the fort down for ya
