I need help making my layout into flash

Hi everyone. Well I really want to turn my layout below into a flash layout. My site is only for my portfolio but I want it to look cool. Can anyone help me? Or give me some tips

you have a solid design, you just need a content window, meaning where is your content going to be loaded. also a transition, meaning when you click a button something could happen and in comes your content in your conent window.

yeah well I got some clips of the ten symbol on akumas back and I was gonna use that but the file is to big even after I cut down the frames. I’m not that good with flash yet I can only make simple things so i’m kind of lost on what to do. I need some kind of navagation system.

The more images you bring into Flash of course will raise your file size. If you can, try to redraw some of the parts in Flash itself and only import the images you NEED to import because they are images or have effects you can’t do in Flash.

Other than that, your kinda stuck.

And also… your footer is too big. Please read this thread…

hey i was just lookin at your layout and i love it but do you know what the kanji means?

well it means (sky/heaven)

Thanks, I’ll change it 1 sec. Do you have any ideas for something to make it look more full or flashy?

sorry i made a bit of a mestake but what r you lookin for?

thats not the kanji thats the ten symbol. the kanji is on his back when hes shin

the ten means god and heaven

Kanji:

thats kami .

nice i like it

alright…well I just wanted to make the layout into flash like have a preloader and have it open up cool. Some small animations here and there and some music in the BG. I’m not sure how hard this will be

Could someone help me do that? <points above>

Heres a tutorial on preloaders.

If you use the search field up in the upper right corner there are quite a few other preloader tutorials on this site.

Heres a tutorial on everything you ever wanted to know about the sound object in Flash MX.

And as for animating, thats all just basic tweening and that comes with practice and experimentation.

thanks a lot

hey…well I tried to do all that but it’s hard for me to make the whole layout itself.

I want the site to be similar to:

http://inferno-designs.moonfruit.com/

But with the layout I posted above. It’s a portfolio site so I need the thumbnails like he has and I wanted music. Does anyone know how to create something like this? thank you

To be able to do a full site you need to practice and get the hang of Flash and how it works. I have used Flash for about 10 months now and am just now starting my first Flash site and it is still difficult for me to get everything working correctly (because i’m a coder more than a designer in Flash probably)

alright thanks, I understand. Yeah i’ve been making images for about 3 years now but after seeing all these sweet flash layouts I wanted to do the same thing.

Is there a way to just have my layout and only have a drop down navagation in flash? And some small animations added?

If you just create your navigation in Flash then yes you can, you just create that in Flash and then use a table or frames to set up your html file (if thats what you meant). But if you will be using drop down menus, you will have to make sure your Flash movies height is big enough to show all drop down options, which can be a problem. There is a workaround for this involving transparent backgrounds and z-indexing, but it will only work on IE for Windows so it’s not worth it at all.

ok cool thanks. In that case I really want just like a cool flash opening (when the layout opens up and stuff) then have like flash buttons for my nav and music. How can I make this?

Just tweens for the animation, button symbols for the nav, and there are multiple ways you can add sound.

For sound you can either go to File/Import and import your sound, then drag and instance of the sound out of the library and onto the stage.

Or you can use the sound object to pull the sound out of the library or even dynamically load it in if it is .mp3. Check www.kennybellew.com for an excellent tutorial on the sound object in Flash.

thanks again
