IE CSS help required - working perfectly in FF/Chrome

Hey y’all,
Having been absent from this site for around 4 years, I’m kinda surprised to see my account hasn’t been deactivated.

Anyways, working on my new site, after a little assistance with the CSS. This is the first website I’ve done from scratch, my forte is much more now around design and photography, the markup side of things is still a bit foreign to me.

So, having designed and pieced this site together in FF to display correctly, I then viewed it in IE7&8, and found a few things wrong:

  • The header is not lining up centered
  • There’s a strange colored line going through the word ‘photography’ - can’t work this one out.
  • The footer is not sitting on the bottom of the page
  • The portfolio links are not centered, though at least they’re grouped together correctly, spacing is correct and position relative to each other is as expected.
  • Text on the ‘info’ page [apart from needing to be rewritten because it’s rather awful] is not centered
  • Contact page contents are not centered

I figure the centering issues are probably all related, but still, after hours of googling for IE CSS hacks, trying them out using the IE8 developers toolbar, uploading multiple iterations of CSS files, I can’t get this all to display correctly.
Is there someone out there, who can at least point me in the right direction with what I need to read up on to do this, or tell me which sections of this need to be changed and to what?

Ever frustrated
