[LEFT]Ok, heres my problem in basic.
I have an axe, some dynamite and the desire to make the world pay. Oh wait. Thats next week, but for this week I’m having REAL trouble with Flash Player trying to retrieve data via a server through an SSL (Thawte Certificated) server.
What happens?
1.You’ve ordered your items through the Flash Catalogue.
2. You enter your postcode and click the “lookup” button
3. The postcode is submitted to an external server
4. External server sends all addresses (in an XML file) for that postcode back to our server which is SSL certified.
5. Our server passes the information to the clients Flash Player which then populates a scroll box for the user to pick their address.
6. Firefox using Flash Player 8 works a dream.
7. IE using ANY version of Flash Player blows.
Any idea what the problem could be.
Before it is suggested.
- We have used a correct crossdomain.xml file
- Any usernames and passwords to access local or remote servers are correct.
- We have tried multiple versions of Flash Player in BOTH browsers but IE has been the only one to consistently fail.
- No we are not using any wierd code or technologies. The code for the Flash movie is written in AS2.
Me and a network architect buddy of mine have been analysing result after result. We’ve ruled out variable after variable. Its not the SSL, its not the server itself and Firefox (running Flash Player 8) works like a dream.
Is there any major differences between the way Flash Player works in IE and FF? Does IE handle information differently? I’m at my wits end.
