I'm at someone elses wireless network :D

but that is dangerous donā€™t you think? I mean it is very possible to hack into someones comp through their wireless

I used my neighborā€™s unsecured 11g connection when Iā€™m downloading something on my own line.

we just got a wireless router in my house. still gotta put the WEP on it thoughā€¦

I have a G wireless card in my laptop and I can pick up ā€œfreeā€ internet in a lot of places. At one coffee shop where I lived in Portland. A guy that lived above the coffee shop would leave his connection open so people below could use it.

I suppose it leaves you a little more open to hackers, but anyone that is a real hacker is going to hack you anyway he wants. I figure itā€™s the little punks reading ā€œhow to be hackerā€ tutorials online who are likely to hack you if any.

Hehe this is great - now Iā€™m connected via GPRS and my mobile phone :beam:
I couldnā€™t find any wireless networks (Iā€™m out in the country-side :P) so this was my backup - and it works =)

this reminds me of this:

hahahahha!

I can sit outside the schools in there parking lot and get into there wirelesā€¦ Its sad, you would think they might have more security. I can also drain City halls fiber optic wireless from my house

AAHHAHAHAHHAhHAHAHAHAHHAHAAAAHHAHA
Luckily, I had teh internal firewall enabled, and nothing shared, so everything was kool for me, but that **** was sooo funny Syko!

What is bash.org anyway? It has something to do with irc I guess (and I know NOTHING about irc  ) :stuck_out_tongue:

omg you dont know what youā€™ve missedā€¦ bash.org is just funny quotes from the irc go to www.bash.org and read

hehe okay will do that :beam:

WEP is usually the first thing I take care of when setting up wireless, so that little punks like you wonā€™t leech of my connection.

hahaha
Iā€™ll crack your WEP :sure: :beam:

my friend knows where like half of the cities wireless networks are, heā€™s always telling me where they are in the car, but itā€™s illegal so he never connects :P, I donā€™t have wep because Iā€™m too lazy to get all the other computers to connectā€¦

and itā€™s obvious when somebody uses your network, everybody can see itā€¦ oh wait, thatā€™s not always true is it!! thatā€™s a good idea runs and hides with his idea

Hey thor, i just set up a wireless connection at my aunts house, any info you can give me on setting up a WEP would be great!

=)

There should be an option for that in the access pointā€™s / routerā€™s setup software and also in the manual

The wireless router should have a built-in WEP. Log on to it and play around with the settings. When you do set up WEP, be sure to write down the number (I usually opt for the 128-bit, or 32 digits) and set it up on every computer thatā€™s gonna be using it. and like scriptflipper threatened, WEP is becoming fairly easy to break, so donā€™t make the key permanent.

is that true? :-/

What the heck? I have a microsoft wireless thingamajig and I just plugged that sucker in and blam, I was cordless. I donā€™t trust my neighbors so I too would like to know how to hook this security thing up.

I have no idea if this is helpful, if not, refer to your wireless routerā€™s manual, it should say what to do.
