… but seeing as how many different options there are out there, and me with my limited income, I’d rather make a good choice the first time than using it for a while, and later learning of another that would have suited my needs better.
But there is a catch.
I am a developer. If I don’t like something, I change it (or, usually in my case, rebuild it from absolute zero to suit my needs instead).
I definitely want to be able to develop apps or have some layer of software that I can write and test on it. This is a must. The iPhone and Windows Pocket PCs I know have the ability for programming software, and even if I cannot program in Flash or Visual Studio, I’ll gladly learn a new language or use a different programming interface just to be able to write new software. However, I’m worried that even if a mobile device allows a level of software that you are as programming in a little box, *severely *limited to what you can do or input you can accept.
And finally, (and this is unlikely that any mobile device gives you this flexibility) if there is ANY device that allows you to actually program the interface, or change the actual player software in any way. Even if I have to take it apart, and reprogram the microcontroller with it’s manufacturers specific bytecode, that’s fine with me, as long as I have access to that higher level of control. This is not a must, but would definitely rock my world.
Other than that, as long as it is able to play videos and music, I’m happy. Internet would definitely be a major plus, but as I rarely communicate with others other than by the world wide web, I really don’t need it to be a phone as well.
What mobile devices do you guys use? What are your opinions of them?
