In need of ideas

I wanted to make a chain (as in metal pecies connected by joints, not different from a bycicle’s) with each link that can move…um… “individually” but I can’t seem to know where to start, anyone got any idea how?

Sounds like some intense math. I bet you could do it by orienting it to a path.

first look at this http://www.electrashine.com

Second, simply open ps and create one chain link (probably can be done just using bevel&emboss and a little drop shadow. Then duplicate the link and overlay on the other so it looks somewhat natural and then crtl +click on one of the layers and carefully erase the part of the selection that would normally be hidden by the overlapping link. It’s really easy, I just suck at explanations.

Also, using drop shadows can give you some trouble when you’re trying to achieve this overlapping effect unless you flatten the layer so the drop shadow blending option is raster. You know what I mean. Create a blank layer under the layer with the blending options and then press ctrl+E to merge the two and presto the blending option is raster. Oye Vai!

What does electrashine have to do with it?

Everything! Go here to find out more http://www.kirupaforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67662

OK… I’ve got the look all working… but that’s it
