iRiver U10

anyone got one of these? I’m thinking of getting one, but there are some things about it I want to check before buying (info I can’t find anywhere)

To start with, I was looking at the simulation at http://u10.iriver.com/ . Everytime you move through the menus the text would do a funky motion blur. That’s annoying the heck out of me. Anyway to toggle it off?

i dont have one… but I do have the h10… it’s a very nice mp3 player. My friends all have some sort of iRiver and they are all very happy with them. I dont think you could really go wrong with it

That’s a realllllllly nice site too

Edit: they jus tannounced a new player if your interested ( http://www.engadget.com/2006/04/13/iriver-announces-e10/ )

When I used it the first thing I noticed about this MP3 player is its slow processor speed and unsmooth operation.

I would not recommend this player. If they update it with more computing power, I would definitely recommend it. Until then, it’s not worth it. I got really excited about this when I first saw it but when I tried it out at Best Buy I was very disappointed.

I see, thanks for the advice. Yea I intend to go try it at Best Buy over the weekend, too.

Does the H10 do video? If not I might go with creative because the U10 looks fugly. :stuck_out_tongue:

you think the u10 looks ugly? are you for real?

No way man, that’s why I was so excited about the U10 in the first place, it’s amazing looking!

H10 looks way better. So does the Creative Zen Vision:M (in black or white).

U10 looks like a screen on a box…

Yea its design is one of the pro factors for it.

anyway, so I went down to circuit city and decided to get one to try for a few days, and my roommate got an ipod nano. We loaded up Darude - Sandstorm on both and much to my surprise the nano didn’t handle the loud basses very well! The sound got quite distorted whereas the u10 was fine.

[whisper]edit: it was the equalizer’s fault, thanks vexir.[/whisper]

iRiver only offers up to 512mb or 1GB space right? for $200

What a rip off, nano + ipodlinux = fun

Was bass booster on? Sandstorm has some heavy bass so it might distort it if the EQ isn’t flat.

[editted out, see below]

yes it is 1gb for ~$200 ($180 on amazon, $175 on zipzoomfly), but it does come with added features like being able to play video and flash movies/games. It can display txt files, too.
Not that those are necessary features… heck, I myself don’t want them and am disappointed that I have to pay extra 50 bucks for such features.

But I don’t really mind because they still are nice features to have, 1GB is more than enough for me, and I’m trying to avoid the nano as everyone has one. where’s the fun in that?

edit: oh whoops, hehe yea the equalizer was on. Not sure what it was set to, though, but now it sounds ok.
