Is Flash a good way to make an interactive video?

I recently finished a project where I had to make an interactive movie in Flash CS4. However, I found that Flash seemed like a rather clumsy application to work with. I haven’t used Flash much, so it could be me that just haven’t figured out how to do things the right way yet. I couldn’t help wondering, though, about a few things:

  1. If you were to make a professional looking movie with interactive elements in it, could Flash then be an application that you would use?

  2. It seemed to me like the drawing tools in Flash is pretty limited. Is it more common to use Photoshop and Illustrator, for instance, to do your drawings of characters and background and whatnot and then put it inside movie clips in Flash and animate it there?

Hope you can help me. I’m trying to decide whether I should spend some more time learning how to animate movies in Flash or if it’s more or less a waste of time

Thanks!
