I've been writing Code for about 20 years and one of my very first posts about it was here

Title says it all.
Man time flys.

Also finding this this little nugget :pinched_fingers:
I don’t know really why yet but for some reason I don’t really like xml

It’s truly humbling to be able to come back after all this time and read this.
Thanks you

Welcome back! Your hunch about XML seems to have panned out… there’s little-to-no HTML validation as it was back then, and I’d guess 99.9% of the data that was transferred via XML back then is now JSON.

What brings you back to the forums, or what sort of programming do you work on these days? I mostly live in app dev and the surrounding ecosystem.

As of recently I’ve been almost 100% in Elixir/Phoenix/LiveView.
Though for a while I did ruby and even some python.
But back in the day when I used to come to this forum it was all AS3/Flash.

As of recently I found myself getting frustrated. I feel like the industry wants to abstract all our freedoms away. Everything “must be” tailwind/boostrap, react/vue ect ect.

I even found that while working with Phoenix/LiveView I really felt like I was giving up something. So I got critical of myself and thought I should go back to basics and avoid frameworks and see how far I get. As a result I started look up all the stuff I used to really enjoy about flash and design work vs doing only back end stuff. That lead me back here.

I think moving forward I want to focus on how to get back to making more interactive websites that strike a balance between design and function and most of all I want to follow my desires not other peoples opinions.

Welcome back @MorphicPro

With AI there will likely be a return to the old way of doing things where you focus more on the design and less on technical nuances.

Except for my React tutorials, almost everything here is designed to not require a framework. If there is anything that you are trying to do that isn’t adequately explained here, do let me know. I’m still creating videos and articles, so your suggestions will help me prioritize your content :open_book:
