Js pop-up doesn't launch

I’m trying to launch a simple javascript pop-up from within flash. i did that much times in the past. though now, with flash 8, nothing works. i even found a lot of working examples on the net, but once i changed publish setting to Flash Player 8, all stop working. What’s wrong with that?
