hi i have my sempron 3300 2.0 ghz and it was running at 2.2 for the last week justttt fine
so i go into my bios and i try to oc it more i boosted the cpu speed from 200 to 253 now it wont start up ???
but when i put the jumpers on it starts… but not at full 2.0 or 2.2 only at 1.1
Haha, I agree. I don’t get why people put their computers at risk just to squeeze an extra 100-200 mhz out of their machines. I had a friend that spent days setting up a water-cooling system to overclock his 1.8 ghz processor to 2.2 ghz. When he finally got it all going I asked him if he could really tell a difference in speed…he said not really.
If you like messing with computers and seeing how much you can overclock things is sort of your hobby, then I say go for it. Otherwise, I think you’re better off saving your money for a better/newer system, to be quite honest.
:o i got it working i had to start and then close windows then take auto detect cpu speed off then restart then take off jumpers then auto detect again…
nope doesnt void my warranty the program came with my mobo lol the encourage it
Well, not necessarily, just because it’s included doesn’t mean if you use it it voids the warrenty. Overclocking voids both my motherboard and my CPU’s warrenty, and I have a high-end ABIT motherboard which includes overclocking software. Even if it didn’t void your motherboard’s warrenty, it most certainly voids your CPU’s warrenty. So be careful, huh?
Overclocking with active cooling is useless IMO. The few hundred mhz won’t be noticible at all, not to mention the risk of frying some expensive parts. People don’t realize that the major bottleneck is the harddrive and not the CPU. If you have watercooling, then the overclocking potential would be worthit. But then…with the money I would spend on watercooling, I would’ve gotten a better processor.
