Layer mask won't show masked text

so, I have several outlined boxes, and inside them are either images, or some just have text saying coming soon. I put a mask over the layer that holds all these boxes, because I only want 3 boxes shown at a time. well it works fine, except for the boxes that have text. they are now just empty. the outlines still show, and the boxes with images show fine, but all the text is gone. and I notice if I delete my mask, then the text is back. even more strange is that on the stage the text is there, but only when I play the movie is the text missing. what is causing this, and how might I fix it? thanks! I won’t be able to check this thread until after work tonight, so I’m hoping someone has a possible solution by then. thanks again!
