right, I’ve been telling myself for aaaages I’m going to get more into the design side of things (I’m a programmer by profession) so I’m going to teach myself how to properly use Photoshop. My question then, where did you learn? How long did it take? Any links and stuff would be great, I’m really looking for a FlashK… ahem … sorry Kirupa for Photoshop where I can get help and tutorials and be a complete newbie without people laughing at me
Hi - aways pleased to hear about anyone wanting to get to know PS better
I’ve been using PS since v2.5 and there’s no substitute for seeing a picture and sitting down with the manual and working it out for yourself - that’s how I did it.
As with Flash, the thing that is most difficult (and it can rarely be taught) is insipiration and composition - it is a ‘sense’. However the more tools you have in your toolbox, the more likely you can execute your masterpiece when the muse falls upon you.
Not long, in a serious art kind of way. I’ve used it for about two years just to sort out photos and web graphics and that, but nothing involving filters or anything remotely artistic.
It’s only been the last six months or so that I’ve really tried to get the hang of it more. And Illustrator even less.
Lost, Eilsoe and EG can come up with some great stuff from scratch, it’s unbelieveable. Plus there’s all the other guys who can do the 3D style and photo manipulation… :sure:
uuuuh don’t… I was looking at EG’s site earlier today… man am I green :stunned: in fact his site was the one that pushed me over the edge!! Thanx ElectronGeek!
I’ve stopped looking at EG’s site. If I check it any more I’ll want to kill him.
Robouk is a good one though, he’s got some interesting stuff on there. My only gripe with a lot of these sites is that they concentrate on text, rather than drawing…
ive been using Photoshop for about 3-4 months, and i started with 7. if you do something every day, kindof like actionscripting, then you will get the hang of it pretty fast. and photoshop never gets boring really unless you have no inspiration. oh yeah, and a really good tutorial site with big forums is www.teamphotoshop.com . hope i could help.
