Little Help Please

Hey guys I need some help…
I went to this tutorial http://www.kirupa.com/developer/mx/newsflasher.asp but I didnt understand any of it. Can someone please help me out on this, make it more clearer? :-\

Thanks a bunch,
Oblique

It is very clear to me :-\

I can’t think of a clearer way to explain it.

What part don’t you understand exactly? Maybe I can find a way to explain that part.

Then, drag and drop the component into the textfield
Now, modify the component parameters and publish your movie

Thats the part where I get stuck, when it says “Drag and Drop”, whats the “Component” and to my knowledge, the “Textfield” is the one I created, I just dont know what the “Component” is.

Whats it mean by Modify? I get the Publish part, just not those 3 things.

Thanks,
Oblique

Ok, well you need to download the component, the link can be found at the beginning of that tutorial.

After you install the component (download the .mxp file so when you double click it, the macromedia file manager will install the component into flash for you), hit F11 (or go to Window/Components) to open the components panel. While in there you will see the component “headlab newflasher” (you may have to click on a black down arrow to find it), click on the component, and drag it out of the panel and directly on top of your text box.

Now with your component selected (click on it after you attach it to your text box), open the properties panel (CTRL+F3 or Window/properties) and edit the options in there.

The tutorial tells you what the options are.

Ahh thanks a lot Beta, didnt know I had to download anything :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks again!

When I go to install the extension, I get an error saying:

This extension will not be installed.

OMG Nevermind, scratch it. I didnt know Flash had to be running >.< Sorry for the annoyance heh…

No annoyance, I didn’t know Flash had to be running either, but I installed all my components with Flash running anyway, so I wouldn’t know…lol.
