Load movie clip

Okay, I know this is probably a really stupid really basic question but how the (**&^%F$#$%^%^ do you have a button load a movie clip WITHOUT turning that movie clip into a separate swf? I just want to be able to press a button on my main fla and have it play animation that is contained in another movie clip!

Argh!:hair:

Macromedia’s help files usually solve everything, but, hey, check this .fla out. It should explain everything. Just check the comments on the first frame of the first layer.

That’s great!

Here is another question though. My animated MC has 10 layers, each with their own tween. There are 100 frames total in the animation. The tween is a really simply alpha value. The first 10 frames one layer fades in then stays there. Next 10 frames 2nd layer fades in and stays there, etc. When I do a Control --> Play the animation runs great - every 10 frames something fades in and stays there. However, back on the main scene, when I push the button that calls the movie clip (movieclip.play()) only the first 20 frames appear! I can tell the whole thing is playing because after awhile it loops. Does any of this make sense? Can you tell me what is going on?

Thanks again for the sample fla!

Well, without the .fla I really can’t tell you. I’m not sure what that could be. Does the animation work normally (i.e. like not within the movieclip)?

Yes it does, that’s what I can’t figure out.

I’ve tried attaching the fla here but I get a message that it is too big (it’s only 941KB zipped?)

I’m headed home now and won’t be able to check back until tomorrow. :-\

Got any suggestions?

Yeah, send it to: CBRThrash@netscape.net
