Got a question about something…first does the swf file get cached…I thought it did, but I am working on a site that is HTML using flash navigation. I designed a template with the embedded flash in it. Everytime I go to a new page on the site, it seems as if the nav is having to go to the server and load the flash everytime. Go here to see what I mean: Diamond Back Motorsports
the swf is about 72Kb which is fairly small…so on high speed I should not even see the preloader…I don’t let me know if there is a fix for this or something…maybe I am just stupid…
I don’t know much about building web sites with Flash, but it looks like it’s loading a whole new page. I think for caching you need to use the frames idea so that the menu on the left is only loaded once and not every time you go to a new page.
Maybe someone who has actually built a web site will be able to give a better answer.
Thanks Liz for your comments…you are correct about the loading of the new page…but I figured once you have the swf in memory it would not have to load a new version everytime. Oh we will see what the others say…Thanks Again
It seems odd that it loads the swf every time you visit the page. normally it’s stored in the temporary internet files, and will be loaded from there. at least on my computer…
though I haven’t looked at your site since we don’t have flashplayer installed here at school (it sucks, I know…)
I agree…I don’t know maybe there is something I have to write to make it check to see if it is in the temporary files…oh well I will keep waiting…these kirupers will give me the answer…I just know it.
