loadSound(); bitrate bug, actionscript 2.0

I have been trying to dynamically download a series of mp3 files from a folder using loadSound(). All the files that have a bitrate of 56k or greater seem to work fine, but the files with a bitrate of 40k are played extra fast, like Alvin and the Chipmunks. Does anyone know what’s causing this or have a workaround for me?
