Local File Upload Options?

Lemme see if I can explain what I’m trying to do.

Rev & I are working on a Flash app that runs locally from a CD using the Flash projector.

At various points we need to allow the user the option to “upload” his own image (probably from a floppy).

What the client wants is the same type of browse file form that you’d see on a web page, only instead of uploading to a remote server the image would be saved to the assigned folder on the local drive.

I can do this locally by opening a browser, using the standard upload file form, and an ASP script to process the upload, IF the local machine is running MS Personal Web Server.

What I’m looking for is a more elegant solution that more seamlessly integrates into the Flash app.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
abzoid

Ohh boy… Don’t we all wish we could do that… lmao

In all seriourness, you might be able to link to a batch file found on the cd that will allow you to copy and place stuff in a local presentation folder… But other than that I have no clue how to help you.

The batch file idea is a step in the right direction. If it just had a way to allow the user to “browse” the local file system for thier image.

I guess what I really need is a simple stand alone app made just for this purpose. Ya know any Visual Basic programmers that work for peanuts? :stuck_out_tongue:

I know a guy, but he is in Baja California… no phone for miles…

Did you check out SWF Studio, I know it mostly doesn’t come “for peanuts”, and not sure if what you want is possible, feature list was too long to read all of it, but I think so…

or maybe http://www.screenweavermx.com/

Eyezberg maybe have a clue to this, but from what I’m sure, is that it’s impossible to do with Macromedia’s Flash MX IDE. Sorry.
