Introductions! My name is Ben, and I am a game designer. Though I have some skill at coding, it is nothing further than the realm of “Dabbler”, so I need your help.
I have a game that I have been working on for several years now, and it has reached the point where I am unable to more more by myself. So I’m scouring the Webs, hoping to put together a group of people to make this dream a reality.
The game itself is very ambitious, but I have worked hard to make sure that the design is achievable and broken down into distinct development arcs. It is a tile-based steampunk RPG with real-time combat (think Secret of Mana with guns, at it’s most basic level) involving mouse and keyboard controls, very simple enemy AIs, a lot of A*-ing, simple base-building and defending, interacting with files to save games, and a mod-able architecture (i.e. the basic scenario is coded in, but all the data is arranged in such a way that it could easily be loaded from a text file created by a modding tool.) All the art will be done in Vector graphics, so all of Flashs’ fanciness and effects will be easy to use and the filesize will remain modest (I hope).
As for money: I’m a starving college student and this is going to be a “bedroom indie” game. BUT! I intend for it to eventually be a game that is great and is for sale for real money. Each person who joins the team will get an equal cut of any and all money that this thing garners. But there are no guarantees in this matter. I say, even if I only get a single dollar, it will be the coolest dollar EVAR. But look at it this way: at the very worst, it’s a huge thing you can put in a portfolio, and I’ll certainly say good things about you as an employer reference .
This is a big, long-term project. It’s going to take many hours of work and dedication, and a willingness to go along with me and my mad plans .
If you have any questions, or I’ve left something out, or if you are curious about something, or if you would like to express your interest in being a part of this project then please post here or zing me an e-mail at tychoruniko #at$ gmail #dot$ com!
