My Site Idea: WeCuisine Social User-Driven Site
I had an (awesome, amazing) idea to create a website that is based on the user-driven kind of social stuff (like Youtube in a way). It relates to a very different subset of information (as in not video, recipes) that I believe can be very promising. I am paranoid that people will steal my idea, however. If you contact me and show genuine interest, I will share with you my idea and all of its related facets.
But you don’t need to know exactly what it is yet. The point is, I started to design and layout the site, only to find that I am a crappy designer. Doing my best to keep the site clean and unbloated, I created a flashy, complicated, too-colorful site that detracts from the main purpose. As such, I have learned this:
I do NOT want a designer who makes tremendously complicated, bloated, distracting designs. I want a simple, organized, clean, professional layout.
Now let’s get to your part in all of this:
I learned that although I may have awesome ideas when it comes to the server-side part of the deal, and the information and all of that, I don’t know how to present it.
I’m looking for a partner to create the site with me. As such, this is not a design-as-I-say, leave, get $$ kind of job offer. In this job offer, I’m offering to divy up my profits with you. As such, I am willing to offer you (probably) 10-45% of the profits that I may or may not make (but in reality, unless you help script, I’d realistically/honestly estimate it could be around 25%).
Oh, so you’re probably not gonna be doing design stuff for a living. You’ll need some free time for this. And THIS won’t be your living. You want to look into this if you’re a student or something.
The profits that I hope to make would be from advertisements and (possibly) customizable and relevant merchandise.
Oh, and one note: the demographic for this site will probably be a little unusual. I’m hoping to try to include middle-aged women, who would probably be crucial to the success of the site. Bear this in mind. It means we must support their crappy old browsers and offer accessibility. We also need to make a clean, professional website that is easy to use.
Phew, finally, on to what I want from you:[LIST]
[]**Organize **the site. How will I organize all of the different features that I plan to include? What makes sense so that the site is easy to use as possible? How does everything fit in and work together?
[]**Layout **the site. Put everything in appropriate places. Make important things look important. Don’t bloat the site. Keep things clean.
[]Layout the site. The most important thing of all. It needs to be repeated, because this is like 80% of what I want.
[]Organize and layout are the key things I’m looking for. I don’t need a master artist. I need someone who is awesome at layout and organization.
[]Design the site. This goes hand-in-hand with layout, of course!
[]Design icons. Most things look better with solid, colorful, well-created, simple icons. Not everything of course, but as a great layout person, you know when icons are good and when they’re bad.
[]Design logos/banners for simple use around the site to make it look professional and easy to use. Comes with the territory.
