I am currently developing a site where 8-9 different people from different countries should be able to communicate
I am using a flash based instant messenger and chat.
Im not worried about the static information on the website just the real-time interaction/communication part.
How to I translate the conversations and chats in real-time so ex:
I speak english and i want to chat with someone in the Netherlands
I press the button to translate englash --> dutch
and the other person would
translate
dutch —> english
I know about Babel Fish but I think they are out of business.
Anyone know of a down and dirty solution 2 make this happen on the cheap -e - cheap???
I’m sure some type of xml, soap, web service thingie would work but need an engine to make it happen
Let me know!!!

awesome project! Unfortunately I am of now help. You could have a bot quickly run to google/translate. then bring it back. The only problem is, with english anyway, all of the slang and what not that people use. It may not make to much sense on the other side. For example, “That’s a sweet crib, its butta, word dog” Someone in china will think you have an eatible baby bed, made of butter, and then you randomly say noun and talk about a pet.
Awesome project though!!
