Macromedia Flash MX Developer's Guide

Does anyone hav an idea on how good this book is?

I bought it, read it, got disheartened because I thought I knew Flash, read it again, took the exam and now I’m Macromedia Certified.

This is a very good book and I think it is highly unlikely anyone would pass the exam without having read it first. There are areas of Flash MX in this book that I have not even seen mentioned in forums…and Macromedia expect you to know about them!

There are subjects (and sample questions) on FLV files, XMLSocket, Capabilities and Accessibility objects as well as questions like:
‘Which items cannot be hidden fron screen readers?’ and ‘What is generally considered the ideal group size for usability testing?’

The book contains about 80 multiple choice questions and you can try a random 20 of them here:

Really tough test tho!!!

I have heard from some guys that those exams are abit easy, can you tell me how was it?

From what I’ve seen (I haven’t read it cover to cover, just flicked through in a bookshop) it’s pretty comprehensive. It goes over just about everything. Which is a good thing, because if you want to take the certification exams, then you have to know Flash inside out and standing on your head. :sure:

They’re similar to the Microsoft certifications really. You think a multiple choice exam can’t be that difficult, but you’d be surprised…
