Macromedia FlashPaper

I dunno if you guys have seen this already, but I think its pretty nice :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s like PDF’s, but to view them online, you use a Flash-based viewer similar to Acrobat reader. Very versatile.

Considering they’re on FP 2, I don’t think it’s all that new, but I’ve seen it in action and its nice.

Cool, you learn something everyday

Looks pretty nice. I noticed that the sample text has the blurred aliased look that Flash is known for when viewing documents in smaller sizes. It also seems to show a slight lag when I zoom in and drag the document around.

I’m referring to this example right here: http://www.macromedia.com/software/flashpaper/examples/

Lag? What are you using? :stuck_out_tongue:

Actually it’s FlashPlayer not FlashPaper.

Cheers

Ah, I see that Macromedia has finally made FlashPaper a standalone application. About 4 or 5 months ago, at our Macromedia User Group (CPMMUG) our Group leader showed us FlashPaper 1, but you needed to purchase Macromedia Contribute to get FlashPaper. I’m glad to see that you can now purchase FlashPaper on it’s own.

I didn’t know it’s also sold standalone now, but $79 just for FP, when you can get Contribute 3 including FP for $149 …? Not really, considering what it can do… but it is nice, works better’n v1.

I personally would rather view documents via FlashPaper than Adobe Acrobat when viewing the documents in an web browser.

If I click a link to view a PDF file in Internet Explorer, it takes FOREVER for the pdf to load, and about one fourth of the time IE will crash and i’ll have to get back to the link again. I would assume that since the Flash Player isn’t as big of a resource hog as most Adobe programs are, that viewing a FlashPaper would be much more stable than a PDF, although PDFs are pretty widely used now, and I would imagine that the Acrobat Reader is installed on a large majority of computers.

Also, I don’t know if this has changed with FlashPaper 2, i’ll have to read up on it, but i know in version 1 you could not change the user interface of the FlashPaper, and I would want something that I could skin the user interface to match the theme of the site it is appearing in.

welcome to last weeks news…

(i was on the beta team for contribute 3 which came with flash paper. :stuck_out_tongue: )
