Making Connections!?!?!

Hi… i need some help with my flash mx… i currently have 5 pictures all of which are symboled movieclips and are in my library… i have the first one out on the screen already… i want to know how, after converting the first picture into a button, i can make the movie work so that when you click on the first picture, the other ones play and replace each other… i.e. after shooting a space ship on a flash game, the process to make it explode even when you are still playing!!! im not sure whether u guys will understand what im saying…
