MCDBA Certification

I know that there are alot of tests to get MCDBA [Microsoft Certified Database Administrator] certified, but it says on the Microsoft website: “MCDBA on SQL Server 2000 candidates should have at least one year of experience working with SQL Server.” I guess what I am getting at is that it says ***should ***doesn’t mean that I have to, right? Also, are there and MCDBA certified people here? Do you think it would be a usefull certification to get or not.

Maybe you want to know why I ask? I work for a large Mortgage Corporation, and we use MS SQL 2000 as our client database. I want to start working in the IT dept. that administrates that database, but when I applied for the position I was told that I don’t have the experience or training. And no one will allow me to get experience unless I have experience/training and since I cannot get experience I will try training. What do you think, are their otherways of getting the same end result?

No suggestions? Perhaps I should put this in another forum area?

I wish I could offer any suggestions or opinions simpleSoft  Random is the place for this type of question though!

im not certified with the DB, but I will tell you that in your situation it can only improve things…in your position i would go after that certification and the Net+ one… that would be a good combo and foundation to get this job with

employers always love certs and if they see that you put the time in and passed, then you must know something, and they can build off that instead of someone just walking up and saying “sure i can do that.”

yeah I’d say go for the cert’s as well

Employers love them

Well I am signed up for the first course. 70-228 MS SQL Server Database 2000, wish me luck…I have heard that MS certifications are difficult.:pa:
