Hi all. Want to say I have been lurking on the site for months now and I’ve finally joined. It’s a great site and I hope once my skills advance I can actually answer a question or two.
Well here’s my question. I have a site that is up right now the entire thing was done in Fireworks8 and Dreamweaver8. The navigation is very simple. I created an image and then a second image to create a rollover effect. Well it works and it’s simple, but it looks a little cheesy. I wanted to upgrade the site [ I’m learning as I’m working. I find tutorials and get books and try to upgrade the site as I learn new stuff ] and the navigation. I was going to create a Flash menu that I found here : http://www.toxiclab.org/tutorial.asp?ID=150 and modify it to my needs.
I want to embed the flash file in to the HTML page and when the button is released it takes you to another page of the site, without opening a seperate window. Again, I’m new to both programs and I have books, but they seem to written in a language geared more towards a person that already has quite a bit of experience. Well anyways, after I created the menu using the steps outlined in the tutorial above, I used the Goto Webpage Behavior and entered the http, the problem is the “Open in” box. I am not grapsing the Self, Parent thing. I think I get the blank and top. “Blank” opens a new page and “top” takes you to the top of the current page? I really want this to work seamlessly. You release the button and the next page starts to load. I hope I am asking this question correctly. Well any help would be appreciated. I know that I need to go through more tutorials or even invest in a class, but I need to finish this before Tuesday if possible.
Also, can someone suggest a really good, yet simple book? My background is in CAD and 3d modeling, so I’m not a total idiot, this is just a whole new game for me. Thanks again
