Motion guide not working

I created a little movie clip of a dragonfly that looks like it’s beating it wings. ok, i want this lil’ bugger to move along this spiffy path i drew for it, but when i test the movie, it just stays in one place, beating its wings.

I know the dragonfly was ON the path, it snapped. I know the path was linked to te dragonfly because the “motion guide” layer appeared over the “dragonfly” layer, and the “dragonfly” layer was indented (just like in the tutorial). but why oh why does it not fly? it should go. what am i doing wrong?

It sounds like all you need is to add a keyframe farther down on the main timeline and tween the movement for the dragonfly (so he’s at the end of his path at the last keyframe).
