My buttons will not stop flashing!

The site was finished - I just thought I’d make a couple of amendments before I put the artists photos up and KERRANG. I screwed something really important up.

I don’t know quite what’s happened or why it’s doing it - but when on the artists portfolios page it opens up a whole load of buttons, they keep opening and, because they are selected as they open, they keep flashing at me. Which means they can’t be used.

Short of putting every button on a new layer, which would be a rather drastic solution, how can I stop this? there is already a ‘stop’ action a few frames down - this appears to have no effect.

The artists will be looking at this all very shortly - please help me not look like a muppet.

www.urbanscrawl.com (and go to artists portfolios)

stop() action is the only thing I can suggest.

I suppose a source file would be needed to see exactly what is wrong.

Are your buttons buttons, or movie clips (since MX allows Movie Clips to be buttons I always do that now…lol)? Is there any gotoAndPlay action that brings it back to the beginning?

Stupid questions I know, but just looking at it is hard to determine what is really wrong.

no no - good questions - yes they are buttons and no there is no goto and play.

This I do know - if I break them apart then they no longer do it - which is how I’ve left it (5am here - time for some sleep).

This does mean however that they are no longer individual buttons, which of course completely defeats the point of their being there.

Oh - and I am a muppet, I deleted the saved version…

Hrmmm, that makes no sense.

So if they are buttons, they don’t work, but if you break them apart, then do work.

I don’t get it :q: Why does that work :q:

Bah… might be a FLash 5 bug or something, if so, I can’t help much there :frowning:

do you have your buttons in a movie clip?

If so, put a stop in that MC…

Also, I assume you are using IE…

I love the GELFs in the footer Rev…LOL.

That is sure to scare many people. I remember the GELF though, so I know what you are talking about :stuck_out_tongue:

Unfortunately there’s no movie clip.

I built it fairly obviously by copying each other and increasing the number in each frame - ie. one appeared, then two on a new frame, then three on a new frame. As you can see they all flash when they are opened in turn… in fact, having said that I have no idea why they flash the way they do.

Or why they stop when it’s broken apart, though there is no longer that blue box around them then.

Can’t believe I wiped the last version.

Right I really am off now - even muppets need sleep.

Sorry, I don’t know…

Maybe…On your instance panel, make sure track as button is clicked (not graphic), 'cause that is what is sounds like, is that the buttons are playing like a movie…

Sorry, wish I could help…

Bingo!!

Rev. you were absolutely right - they were playing as a movie clip, don’t know how it happened but it did, and now it’s sorted.

Hurrah.

Of course now I have to fix all the problems I created trying to fix the problem…

I don’t know how, but I have had the same thing happen before…

Glad it works:P
