Here is my entry:
The game uses Flash on the user’s end and Perl on the server end to process and store the data. Three people are needed to play this game, and each player’s turn is announced via e-mail. (E-mails are not shared with anyone–don’t worry about spam.)
The game is based on Greek mythology. The objective of the game is to seek the Oracle at Delphi, receive from her three quests, complete those quests to obtain fame and treasures, and return home with four treasures before anyone else.
When you complete each quest, you receive one of nine of treasures in the game. Because you need four treasures to win, you must negotiate trades with other players (via e-mail) or rob other player’s of their treasures. There are also some extra twists that make this a fun game to play strategy wise. For example, some of the treasures give you special powers (e.g., invisibility, speed, strength), and donating money to temples allows you to bless yourself (i.e., more money, more troops) or curse others (i.e., randomly sweep them away, mutany among troops).
The graphics are rather crude; I was more interested in getting the mechanics to work correctly. If anyone is interested in designing 20x20 tiles for the game that look nicer, please let me know. :geek:
