I’m working on a virtual tour for my company and it has been requested that amongst the many things I have already added in there, I bring the functionality to a per employee level. Meaning eventually they want every employee listed in this thing with information on them and how to get to their cube etc.
Easy enough if your company is 5 or 10 people b/c you could just create symbols for each of them or whatever. But this company has several thousand employees and I don’t know about you but not only would creating all that in one flash file be a pain in the butt, but updating it would probably be a nightmare as well.
So here’s the genius idea I have that I’m sure some of you have already figured out. I want to populate my movie from a Database. I need to know how to create a search field where the user can type in a name and find the person they’re looking for in the Database. I know this is sort of a big thing to ask on a forum but I really hope that someone can help out.

if you’re unclear as to what I’m talking about look in MS Outlook and create a new mail then click the button (top left) that says to: a lil menu linked to your address book will pop up and when you start to type in a name it finds the closest match it can automatically and when you get to the one you want you click ok or double click the name … or whatever =)
