Wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction here.

The navigation to the left of the screen which has a grey rollover which fades to lighter shades of grey when you quickly rollover the links - how can I replicate that sort of effect? I’ve seen it numerous times before (or effects very similar to it) and I think it’s very effective.
