Need help with datagrid componet. Please help. someone..please

Hi guys, sorry for sounding so pathetic. I am new to the whole thing and have no clue as to what I am doing. I have found some info online about datagrids which have only left me more confused to a level where I’m about to give up. I just want somebasic information. I have a Mysql database that contains textual information. I want this info to be displayed using a datagrid. How do I go about accomplishing this using a php script and actionscript 2.0? How do I tie everything together using xmlconnector and dataset? I am new to the world of programming and stuck pretty deep. I found examples online that have just left me confused and angry.
