Ok guys, here is the deal… I have been fighting with this for at least 2 months now, and I am 99% positive I am just an idiot.
I am using flash 2004 MX professional. I am trying to create a SIMPLE website that has only 3 pages in Flash. I want to have a user login on the first page, a register page that will allow users enter their information… and then a content page once they login. Sounds simple right? Well here is the fly in the ointment… I want this to use my MySQL database I already have set up. I already have one page that can pull data from the database and populate a “Contact Management Page”
I have tried googling for a tutorial and I have tried several of them… None seem to actually work. Might just be my flavor of Flash
I know the most common point of failure is the connection to the database… but I can connect and query it all day long with PHP. Where I always run into problems is making the connection from flash to PHP and back again in order to check the username and the password of my database.
Is there anyone out there that can create a simple little .fla (preferably flash 2004 mx pro compatible) that I can download or get emailed to me somehow, so I can tear it apart and see how it works. Just something simple, I can add all the bells and whistles once I get past this “Flash-not-sending-data-to-PHP” obstacle.
Let it be known now, (at the risk of being called a “noob” and refused help) I am JUST learning Flash. I am a webdesigner from wayback… but I only ever worked with html. I really like the way Flash allows for such creative diversity, and want to learn it. But alas, I am poor and can not afford to go to school. Besides… there are hunderes of people out there in the world typing their fingers to the bone, creating tutorials. I feel I should honor there efforts and attempt to learn from them. ( Ok, I am a cheap bastard and I have a hard time paying $50 bucks a book.) Please, if there is anyone out there that can help I would be indebted to you eternally.
P.S. On a side note, I also noticed I am missing the UniScrollBar from my components list. Is that normal? Know where I can get it?
