Need some opinions and suggestions

I’m making myself an online portfolio… But basically I can only think of so many things right now to place in it… I’m trying to use it as something for… Websiting companies / Game Industries to take a look at and be like… “Cool! We wanna contact this guy or check out his resum’e”…

These are some of the ideas I’ve come up with…

  1. Site will be done completely with Flash and PHP. Both interacting with each other to bring a good blend of interactivity and navigation…

  2. Main design will be in a basic rectangular shape… On top of the (wishes he had his notebook to scan in to show you guys a pic) main rectangular base is a stick figure guy… On click of the left, right, down or up arrow keys… You can make this stick figure run across the top of the site… Up makes him jump and down makes him duck… Even thinking about making a button that gives this guy a big axe and he can chop apart zombies that creep in form left and right…

  3. Dynamic Weather… While you are browsing the site… You might notice the page getting really bright (sunny) or start to thunder and rain… Or even get a little chilly and start to snow… Each of these wetaher patterns affects how you will view the site… If it snows… Snowcaps start to form all over the page in time and yur stick figure guy will quickly throw on a snowsuit and gear and on button press… Will build a snow man… ATo make sure this will not be an annoyance. You cna oopt to turn weather / sounds off in the bottom bar…

  4. top bar will include the main topics… ie Works, Experiments, Tutorials, Resum’e and so forth and so on… On clicking one of these links… A main slider menu will appear from the left side displaying a list of subtopics for this… Which will appear in the main background.

  5. The far right bar will show icons for weather… So you can actually choose what type of weather you wnat to plug in for this… THis can be handy if you like just viewing one weather or if you don’t feel like waiting a couple more secnds to see what weather pattern comes through next…

  6. The bottom bar is where you have a preloader bar slide across to show the status of objects… You have a Music Bar that allows you to load a couple of techno or rock beat loops. And it displays the time and music and weather turn on/off switches…

Other than all that… yeah all that… I don’t knowwhat else to place in it… I know I definetly want the little stick guy in the top and the dynamic weather… The actual design can change though…

I’ll get a viewable copy done by the end of the week to show you guys…

Sounds interesting.

I think adding more might make it cluttered though, so you should keep it as you are saying now.

you describe it very well, i can just imagine the stick dude building the snowman right now…its original
instead of a stick figure, why not make a slightly more complex character? i know you don’t want to become too complex but stick figure is very simple and no gaming/graphics company is going to contact you because of a stick figure. The weather idea sounds awsome!

It’s taking shape right now… I’ve got all the buttons and main designs done… Yeah I know they won’t come to me about the stick figure… I’ll probably end up giving him some cool pants and a shirt or something like that…

But yeah… I’m not looking to go into artwork… I wanna get in for Programming… I’m gonna throw on some C++ examples and everything into the site…

I dunno… Can anyone think of any ideas for a figure on the top there… Like… Should I make it where you can click some buttons and it’ll turn into a mini game or something like that?
