Need sound help plz

Can someone please explain to me how you get timing with sound in Flash…

Heres what I do… and please tell me this isn’t how you HAVE to do it, because its REALLY tedious…

I set up a hotkey to “Mute all sounds” then I run the movie from the beginning untill I find a spot I need to do something…
Then I mute the sounds so it doesn’t just keep on going… and I put something in that spot… Then unmute the sounds again and play from the beginning to see if I got it right…

PLEASE tell me there is an easier way to get your timing with sound…

P.S. These aren’t just sounds, I mean’t to say background music…

From my experience this is harder than it seems. And it IS tedious. The main reason is because for different users your site can load stuff quicker than others. For example, your site may be graphic intensive, and so it takes longer to show the images in your site because the users CPU is slower. Meanwhile, your sound could be playing right no cue, which screws up all the timing. I think there are different way to best achieve the right timing, and your is probably as good as any other…
