New to programming, a few basic questions:

Hello forums.

I’ve delved head first into Flash animation. I have no experience programming, but I’m willing to put the time and effort into learning, i just need to be pointed in the right direction. Questions:

  1. The FAQ suggests I learn Action Script 1.0 first, then move my way up. Upon further researching AS it seems versions 2.0 and 3.0 are far different. Is there any crossover? Should I stick with 1.0 or should I jump into 3.0 and get my roots there?

  2. I am using a 30-day trial of Adobe Flash CS5. Many of the tutorials here, like the beginner programming tutorial says its for CS4. Should I find CS4 instead, or will these lessons be applicable to CS5?

  3. Given a few hours a day (3 to 4) about 5 or 6 days a week, what is an approximate time period I can be confident I’ll have a decent understanding of AS and making games in flash? Months? Years?
