Ok, I’m really worded out here. I’m doing a chemistry lab write-up and I’m going a bit nuts with this question. What exactly is it asking for?
When Ag+ ions are added to the red FeSCN2+ ion, the color disappears and a white precipitate of AgSCN forms. Explain why Fe3+ can be used as an indicator in a reaction to determine the concentration of an unknown solution of Ag+ by reacting it with a solution of KSCN of known concentration.
The last sentence seems really ambiguous. Ag+ reacts with KSCN to form AgSCN and K+. Where the hell does Fe3+ come in here to be used as an indicator? What is this question really asking?
Thanks =)
