Nintendo DS Wireless Hack

Nintendo DS wireless hack

  December 11, 2004

The Nintendo DS has been tunneled. What's tunneled?

Tunneling: Get a wireless signal, extract its data, send it over another physical medium (such wires, even Internet), and at the other end another device to convert it to a wireless signal.

In a nutshell it’s sending DS wireless data through a “tunnel”. This case, this “tunnel” is the Internet. So, in a short time from now someone with a DS and wireless connection could play anyone in the world on their DS. There’s also been talk about sending data to the DS itself ie. Games, programs, ROMS, etc

Darkain, maker of the remote control program for Winamp, RM-X, has been working day and night hacking the Nintendo DS and its wireless, and making a custom USB power connection for it. He has been able to monitor packets over 802.11b coming from PictoChat and more. Darkain’s progress is so impressive his site was mentioned on the TV show "The Screen[url=“http://www.g4techtv.com/screensavers/index.html”] Savers" on G4TV, you can view the clip above.
