No parameters, no brackets?

Hello, I was wondering why brackets are still given in actions that dont have parameters?
e.g.

  stopAllSounds();
  prevFrame();
  ...

They work without brackets too, dont they?
Not that it makes a lot of difference, but I was just wondering
