dont get a celeron :x a p4 is nice… RAM is also important though. Is price much of an issue?
Compaq has out (or atleast is coming out) with a workstation laptop which is just niiiiice. Im not at all a fan of compaq, but this guy who was demonstrating some XSI stuff had one and it was pretty and performed really well. When I asked about it he couldnt stop touting it and said it was his favorite of all the laptops he gets (he gets to test new hardware etc).
With the ‘workstation’ laptops, you’re getting into some high pricing but the performance boost is premo.
IBM just annonced new laptops which are supposed to ditch weight and aesthetic concerns in favor of performance. I think they’re going to have (or -have-) a celeron and P4 version priced about $1000 and $2000 respectively I believe. Might be something to look into.
thanks for the info senocular, I’m looking for a $1000-15000 notebook, Im thinking to buy Toshiba S255.
if you really want the power of a desktop and the portability of a laptop get a desknote you can get one with a p4 2.4 gigs or AMD (my choice) with a gig o ram for less than 1500 do a search here http://www.pricewatch.com and you can customize it to your specs im gettin one soon, hopefully :beam:
man… I love pricewatch.com soooo much ::just thought I’d throw that in there::

i have a question too… are pc notebooks cheaper then mac notebooks?
cause im starting college next year, and i might want to invest in a laptop, but i dunno which to go with.
pcs are way cheaper [whisper] and better IMHO [whisper/] than a mac laptop it all depends on your budget and your needs
hrm hrm. ok, well i gotta see what we are gonna be using. cause i dont wana buy a mac and we are gonna be using pc’s for 2 years. har.
I loooooooooooooooooooooooooooove my new computer, and so-far all I could imagine buying is a Sony, we have so many Sonys and NONE of them have EVER broken down! NEVER! Can you imagen that?!?!?! look at the nice sony P4s too.
and If you like a nice big computer they have them, if you want a really small one, they have them, if you want a medium sized one, they have them, if you want something in-between your not in luck.

americancomputech.com does have some radeon packages too.
hmm I have to check that out… I prefer GForve tho, I used to use SIS before, and not to satisfied, but it was 5 years ago.
but this is really cool, so cheap if you compare it to brands like toshiba n HP, esp sony.
Sony isactually really good, and I believe in the quality.
