You assume darkfx is saying all Americans are illiterate.

As an american I am Disgusted by the attitude that because I am an American, I am stupid. I am offended to no end at this attitude!
When will this end!!!
Is any other american out there offended or are we just a bunch of stupid bumpkins?
Or are we just stupid americans like the rest of the world thinks? **
That statement there says you are offended because darkfx called Americans illiterate.
But you assumed he meant all Americans, which wasn’t the case.
Oye… I think I am going to quit replying to this argument.
It can apparently go on for decades and it seems you get your jollies from this

Hey, relax… Half the posts from this thread have been deleted, so I can’t tell what’s been going on, but calm down.
I believe the original question was about optimisation? I’ve got some stuff on this lying around somewhere, and I can get it done as a tutorial if people think it would be helpful. Or I can just post some points up in the thread.
Please note that since I am English, I use the ‘s’ spelling instead of the ‘z’)
vector graphics: http://www.file-size.com
actionscript: http://flasm.sourceforge.net/#optimization
and that’s that
Have lots of posts been removed? Because this thread is really confusing! Btw, I use S instead of Z: it is the correct (aka British) way of doing it ■■■■ these americans :]
Me and Kitara! Live and Loud from London! =)
i spell it with a Q, cause q’s are the shiznit ;p
Well. anyways …
darkfx,
I wouldn’t import .psd’s directly into Flash. Instead, in Photoshop goto: File > Save for Web and optimize there as either a gif, jpg, or png if you like. use the 4-up display to compare compression effects at different levels. Then you can import these files into your Flash library already optimi*ed for the web.
jcs
- = not getting involved :sigh:
Thanks jcs, but it is best not to compress bitmap images at all when importing into Flash. It is best to keep it in its native raw format. When flash exports to swf it compresses it automatically to JPEG (or what ever format you specify), so by compressing it in photoshop then compressing it again when Flash publishes it, it leads to distortion and loss of quality.
It is best to save the Raw format in PNG or PSD
when you would want to compress is when using loadMovie to load in your files.
well, thanks then!
