OT: Director export to web

Ok, I already know:

  1. This is off topic, but the Director/Lingo boards seem to be dead, and I figured I might find a few “old-timers” here,
  2. There’s no way to convert directly from Director to Flash.

So here’s my problem:

I have a bunch of CDs I did for a client in Director. About five years ago I switched to Flash. The client now wants to post the Director programs online. Of course, these were massive projects, with lots of elements such as videos, audio clips, embedded fonts, custom programming, etc.

I could just dump the whole thing into a bunch of folders and set it up to play through the shockwave plugin, but I’m thinking that will give the user a less than optimal experience (e.g. audio and video files should be re-compressed using modern codecs, etc.)

Is there any resource that provides a helpful guide as to how much re-working a project like this should take to make usable on the web? I’m pretty sure a complete rebuild in Flash is out of the question. Any thoughts are appreciated.
