Hi everyone, I’m very new with using flash and XML, but I recently read the photo gallery with xml and flash along with the modified version including the image thumbnails. It is exactly what I need and it was broken down in such a matter that I understood it much better than anything else I’ve come across. However, I do have a question.
I’m modifying the photo gallery to showcase some tiling and granite work a friend of mine has done over the years for her website. The photo gallery itself is going to be on a page other than the index. However, we have 6 photos on the index page and we would like them to be links that will take the user to the photo gallery page. Here’s the tricky part. We want the first picture displayed to be the image that was clicked on from the index. Is there a way to reference the pictures and have them be the first image loaded when a certain link to the photo gallery is clicked? I have tried searching for a solution, but I have not been able to find anything that was capable of doing what I need.
My first inclination is to make six separate xml files and six separate photo galleries to start with the correct image and direct the links to the correct gallery. That seems really silly to me personally, but with what I know it’s the only way I am able to see to get it to work in this fashion. Perhaps there is a way to do this with categories that I am not aware of. I appreciate any input on this subject and hopefully I’ll get to learn something new.
Thanks a bundle,
Elaine
