Photoshop brushes and Flash

Hey Guys,

When designing my site woah … just got deja 'vu - weird I used a photoshop brush which was a butterfly. I now want to animate that butterfly in Flash.

So, my question is, do I need to recreate the butterfly (say tracing it with Freehand/Illustrator). I guess I asking, where the hell should I start.

Cheers. YP

that was a brush? whoa! can you tell me where you got it? i thought it was a pic, i think this is the same one we are talking about…the one with the checker like thing? well anyway. what ever. but if you know where you got the brush i would love to check it out. i dont have anyclue though,

You could export it out of photoshop as a transparent .gif or a .png image (so you don’t have a fill area around your butterfly) and go to File/Import in Flash and import your image.

What was a brush? The same butterfly yes, the lily, no, that was a photo I manipulated. I got the brush set, no shape set, sorry, from Adobe Exchange.

alright i just mixed them up then. Lost how do you make a transparent Gif?

In Photoshop go to File/Save AS…

Then Select Compuserv (.gif) (or whatever it is called), then before it saves it brings up an options box, check the transparency checkbox to preserver transparency (you will have to make sure you delete the background layer so that your image actually does have transparency before you save)

yip yip yip…lost is nearing 5000 post mark and mdipi is nearing the 1000 post mark…

for the butterfly, you need just one wing, exported as a gif or png. even better, create it in illustrator, and export the vectors into flash. That way it could scale cleanly, as opposed to a raster image (pixels). Once in flash, make the wing a clip, and then add another instance on another layer, and flip it. animate the wings, insert a body, and make it all into one clip. Then you can add the clip to a motion guide, check orient to path, and you have a flying butterfly…

Yeah, I think I’m gonna create my own butterfly to simplify things. I give your idea a shot in Freehand and see where it gets me.

Damn, where’s butterfly when you need one? I’m a stickler for precision. I wanna make the flying as realistic as possible.
