PHP Log In system / File writing and saving and viewing

Sorry for the odd Subject line… here goes:

Ok heres the whole senario:
It’s a real estate site, Users will be able to log in using an e-mail address they entered and a password. The users will be able to access a .txt file, One where they add sort of “notes” about what houses, areas, schools, lot sizes, square feet, number car garages, etc they are looking for, an editor like a text box will allow users to write to this file and save it for later viewing. The user will also be able to send the file to the webmasters e-mail so he can review it and find results based on what they entered.

I have no clue how to start this. Is it complicated? (it seems complicated)

Are there downloadable systems like this already out there?

Can one of you be kind enough to write a PHP system like this for me or atleast tell me how to do such a thing?

Just curious, but why go to the trouble of writing the information to a text file before sending it to the webmaster? Why not just use a standard form-mail script to send the information via e-mail to the webmaster? I’ve seen PHP form-mail scripts posted in this forum a number of times. A forum search for “mail script” should locate them.

Ok I have been doing a lot of reading about PHP… and have a small knowledge of it now. I was just wondering what elements were required to achieve such a system… like, Do i need to declare any variables? Do i need to make it so it opens a conenction? Im not sure what the terminology of these “elements” are called, but If one of you gives me a list of the required i can research them and maybe get started on writing the system. Thanks!
