Physics question

didn’t know where to post this.

A stone is dropped from a height of 20 metres and takes 2 seconds to fall. It is then picked up by a bear. What is the colour of the bear?

Try answering this, pure physics, IIT entrance exam question.

red :slight_smile:

no guesswork, eilsoe, anyway you’d have to give a reason. Can’t say the bear picked up the stone, smashed himself on the head with it and smeared the blood on him, can you? :wink:

2x20 = 40; 0x404040 = dark grey! :slight_smile: phyics?

well, not quite… :sure:

As a stab in the dark, I’d say it has something to do with a gravitational pull being slightly stronger in some places than others, so by working out where on the planet that is and how it would affect a stone falling, you can tell what kind (and therefore colour) of bear picks it up?

Female logic is such a devastating thing. :stuck_out_tongue:

umh Kit I was just gonna post that! But I know the color!

It’s a polar bear so it’s white and lives on the north-pole where the gravity is stronger!

well it would mean like mars is about 2 inches away if it takes 2 seconds before the rock begins to fall :sure:

So basically, what you’r saying is that I’m <b>right</b> :beam:

um… er… yeah but I tohught exactly the same thing so… we’re both right! :beam:

No, no need to explain, just a simple “Kit, you’re absolutely right as always, we bow to your intelligence” will do fine. :wink:

lol!
Now it’s time for jugnu to to come and say that we’re both wrong! :stuck_out_tongue:

and another thing, what would a bear have to do with a rock anyway? No bear would pick up the rock thereby meaning the bear is in fact a man in a bear suit - and as we all know, bear suits only come in one color, so the answer is dark brown :crazy:

kit’s right, but not with the full reason. Syko is more right, though.
S= ut + 1/2at<sup>2</sup>
20= 0 + 2a
a=10 m/s<sup>2</sup>
And that’s only at the poles.
You guys are good…

well, sen, brown is NOT the only colour you find bears in.

:beam: see kit :beam:! Bow before your master of all knowledge!

jugnu what language is that? Something scribbleed S= ut? ut=unreal tournament? :stuck_out_tongue:

you mean bear suits
and I was kidding anyway :stuck_out_tongue:

Pedant! :stuck_out_tongue:

you’re just jealous :wink:

What? Jealous? Moi? Considering I explained how you would work it out before anyone else? I think not, o multi-eyed one. :slight_smile:
