Please help...Checking external SWF's on work in progress (Flash8)

Please help…

I’m checking work in progress with external swf’s and the output error log keeps looping an “error opening URL”. I don’t want to sound stupid but is this because I’m saving each file as an .fla and the ActionScript is in swf’s??

mmmm When you load the .swf file you use loadMovieClip(“theFile.swf”,1) this way, where the number is the layer in wich you want it to be. If the path ("") Isn’t correct as will complain

Thanks Juduth but I’m only checking with Movie Explorer…am I doing something wrong? Sorry if I’m coming across as being a bit stupid but I’m having to learn as I go along…

Darrr…sorry, I meant I check with ‘Test Movie’

It’s the path to the .swf’s. Try using the direct path to them.

Sorry…I’m a bit of a novice at this …must I therefore change the actionscript?

I tried ‘Test Movie’ on the source I downloaded for the tutorial (MX and MX2004) and the same problem occurs. I’m working with Flash 8…would this have any influence. Sorry to be a pain…
