I’m an aspiring Flash designer (trained in print and limited web (xhtml/css/php), and am frankly quite confused regarding precoded components (Flash-external). Basically, I’ve learned a great deal of actionscript 3 in the last 6 months (gone through 2 books, innumerable tutorials, etc.), and while I feel I get the basics as well as some more complex tasks, I’ve already found myself needing to use a couple of precoded components due to their complexity. While I did tweak the code for my uses, this still feels like cheating; but the job had to be done.
I would love to say that one day I’ll have a complete understanding of all things actionscript, but even if I can achieve this, it’ll definitely be a good while away. In any case, my question is really just how often do those more seasoned Flash designers out there use these?
