Hi I’ve tried many times over to create flash colour book application as per the link

I am having when converting the four areas first to button and then to movie clip. The problem seems to be with the star and face areas, I can convert the star to button and then move clip but when I then do the same for the top / body, the star is then covered up by the body although the star is still selectable it doesn’t appearas it should do. Also when I select the face and convert this to button I lose the mouth.
The next issue is that if I double click on the area, this selects both shape and its border but then when applying the paint brush, everything gets coloured in, including mouth and eyes and hear outline etc…however if I only select the shape then I still get mouse and eyes being coloured in.
Is there any update to this tutotrial or more specifc detail on how exactly each shape should be selected as some of the explanation seems a bit general?
